dMAT Updates

Two things only: what g.a.s.t. and APS India have officially changed, and what new preparation material we have released. Dated, sourced, and short. We watch the official pages so you do not have to.

Attempt one section at a time — five separately timed practice blocks

The real dMAT Core is three separately timed subtests, each taken cold on its own clock. The 50 practice questions now run the same way: Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares as three Core blocks at the official pace, and the General Academic Module as two passage-aligned blocks at the full-length rate. Pick a section, attempt it against its own clock, and get the breakdown for that section alone — free with a Google account, and every block can be re-attempted.

Why: a full 50-question run puts the subject module last, on a spent clock. Taken as its own block, it is a clean read of the section under real time pressure — which is what a student who scores well on the Core and wants to isolate the academic module asked us for. The single 50-question run is still there for anyone who prefers one long run, and browse mode is unchanged. Pick a block →

What PrepDMAT gives you

All of it is written to g.a.s.t.'s official July 2026 formats and runs in a working recreation of the real exam interface — separately timed sections, no going back once a section is submitted, equation answers typed on a virtual keyboard, and no rough paper, because the exam gives you none.

  • Free Diagnostic — 21 questions across all four sections, about 40 minutes. A per-section score and a full worked solution to every question, free with a Google account. Take it →
  • 50 practice questions in browse mode, with instant checking and no account at all. Browse them →
  • Five full-length Guide Mocks — 435 questions, 87 each, every one with a worked solution. Early-bird ₹2,499, one payment, access through 26 Sept 2026. What's included →
  • A report after every attempt — accuracy by section and by question type, time used against the official limit, and a ranked list of what to fix next, each linked to the matching practice.
  • Preparation guide and eligibility checker — the 8-week plan and the no-rough-paper method, and a 60-second answer to "do I need the dMAT?" Read the guide → · Check yours →

Nothing repeats between the three sets: the practice bank, the Diagnostic and the paid mocks share no questions at all.

Results land 12 October — and you can send your APS file before then

Both official sources now give the same four dates: registration opened 29 June, closes 15 September, the test is 26 September, and certificates are published in the g.a.s.t. test-takers' portal on 12 October 2026. That last one had not been stated plainly before.

More useful for anyone with a tight university deadline: APS India clarified on 13 July that you may ship your APS application documents before your dMAT certificate exists. They will begin the document verification in the meantime and issue the APS certificate once the dMAT result arrives. One catch worth reading twice — this applies only to the dMAT certificate. Every other academic document has to be in that first submission; you cannot post a missing transcript later alongside the dMAT result.

Who does not have to take it — the exemption list, in full

The affected fields are Engineering, Commerce/Accounting/Finance/Economics, and Business/Management. APS India has now spelled out the other side of that line. You are not required to take the dMAT if you are:

  • applying for a Bachelor's programme in Germany;
  • a Bachelor's student who has not yet completed 5 semesters of a 3-year programme or 7 semesters of a 4-year one;
  • a PhD applicant;
  • on an officially confirmed exchange, double-degree or university-partnership programme — send the confirmation and your group number with your APS file;
  • holding a degree outside the listed fields.

If your degree sits between categories — Engineering Management, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Financial Technology and similar — APS India names these explicitly as the ambiguous cases and points to its published field list as the decider. Check yours against it rather than guessing. Run the 60-second check →

A low score does not cost you your APS certificate

The most common worry we see, and the official answer is unambiguous: the dMAT is not a pass/fail gate for APS. APS India states that a low score "does not automatically lead to a refusal of the APS certificate" — the certificate has to be submitted, and the result is then recorded on your APS certificate. What universities do with it afterwards is their own decision, and they decide independently.

Two related things it also does not do: it does not replace anabin recognition of your institution, and a strong score cannot compensate for a degree from an H+/− or H− institution. Check anabin before you register, not after.

The fee is €150, paid to g.a.s.t. during registration — roughly ₹15,000. Refunds for non-attendance exist under g.a.s.t.'s own terms. What the exam costs vs what prep costs →

Is the September exam only for Summer 2027 applicants?

The g.a.s.t. registration portal says the 26 September date is "specifically for" applicants targeting Summer Semester 2027. APS India's page says the dMAT is required for "summer semester 2027 and subsequent intakes". No second date has been announced. The certificate never expires, so taking the September exam is the low-risk choice — but the two pages genuinely differ. We have asked both for written clarification and will publish the answer here.
